'The Hills' Shortlisted in IDEA Awards 2014

The Hills Shire Council Relocation project has made the shortlist for the Interior Design Excellence Awards (IDEA) - Workplace Over 1000sqm category.

Bringing together four diverse existing business units that had previously been located in various locations throughout the Sydney CBD, dwp|suters' challenge was to design a cohesive, connected workplace that unifies the 580 strong workforce. Working closely with icare’s leadership our team developed a workplace brief which sets out a clear vision for the newly named organisation that provides strong connectivity, unified branding and supports cultural change.

dwp|suters’ conceptual response is based on the metaphor of a town and the voices of its citizens. The town offers precincts for different uses and civic spaces that unite and support the people. Egalitarian culture is encouraged; there are no offices and the main staff hub, or town centre, is centrally located to welcome all. Designed for maximum flexibility to enable teams to join forces, the staff work areas are defined by home zones, supported by meeting rooms, collaboration spaces and utility zones arranged as a main street. A dramatic new staircase physically and symbolically links the floors, encouraging communication and serendipitous meetings. This new 5.5 star NABERS rated workplace is helping to transform icare’s culture from government silos to a united organisation with a commercial mind and a social heart.
